We are now pleased to offer a 2" scale head and neck study cast with mane. The casting is from an original carving of kit #10 PTC 3rd row jumper from the shoulders up.

The casting is made of urethane casting resin and is very detailed. We also offer a combination of the study cast and one 2" kit #10 PTC 3rd row jumper. The study cast will be a great help when carving the head and mane.

For carvers wanting to build a miniature carousel, we offer a special price for your choice of any 12 of our 1" scale carving kits. Also included are the Carousel Modelers and Miniature Association (CMMA) plans to build a working miniature carousel. The plans are for an operating 24½" diameter miniature carousel.

Carousel Figure Carving Kits

We offer kits for more than 45 different carousel figures in three different scales (kits are pictured below)! Included with each kit are detailed instructions for completing the kit, a photograph of the carousel figure from which the kit was designed, a layout drawing for the figure and the basswood components required to carve the figure.

The overall size of our carving kits depends on the scale selected and size of the original carousel figure each kit is based upon. Original carousel figures vary in size depending on their placement on the carousel. Outside row carousel figures are the largest with inside row figures decreasing in size. Large outside row menagerie animals such as lions and tigers can be larger than some outside row horses.

The 1" to the foot scale (1/12) carving kits were originally designed for carvers and modelers building miniature carousels. For miniature carousels we recommend the 1" to the foot scale (1/12) carving kits. Our 1½". to the foot scale (1/8) carving kits are suitable for miniature carousels or as stand alone carvings. The 2" to the foot scale (1/6) carving kits are primarily used as stand alone display carvings due to their large size. For carvers not building a miniature carousel we recommend our 1½" to the foot scale (1/8) carving kits for first time miniature carousel carvers.

Our miniature carousel animal carving kits are scaled from original full-size carousel figures. Using kit #1 Dentzel outside row stander as an example, the following overall dimensions will give you an approximate size of each scale we offer. Jumping animals are smaller in height due to leg positions.

1" to the foot scale (1/12) kit overall length 5" - 6" and 5" in height.

1½" to the foot scale (1/8) kit overall length 7½" - 8½" and 7½" in height.

2" to the foot scale (1/6) kit overall length 10" - 12" and 10" in height.
